FAITH MEALS FOR HOMELESS AVAILABLE THIS SUNDAY
Our Confirmation Class youth put together 148 Faith Meals for the homeless as their Lenten ministry. Faith Meals are gallon zip-lock bags filled with useful items. Each one is different, but all contain food, water, personal hygiene items, a gospel tract and a flier with information about where to get help all over LA County.
The remaining meals will be available this Sunday for $2.00 each and may be carried with you in your car, backpack, or a (very large) purse or bag.
Our thanks to all who contributed!
VOCAL CHOIR, HAND BELL CHOIR AND BRASS CHOIR MUSICIANS NEEDED FOR EASTER
Make a joyful sound for Easter. Come and share your gifts and sing in our adult Liturgical Choir, play in our Brass Choir (play a brass instrument) or in our Hand Bell Choir (read a little music).
Contact Dan Ambrosini today at firstname.lastname@example.org or at (909) 392-8400 for music and rehearsal times.
FIRST COMMUNION CLASS MARCH 24TH
Prepare your child for an encounter with the living God in Holy Communion. Come to Faith Lutheran Church in San Dimas for a class preparing baptized persons in 4th grade or above or 10 years old or older, including adults, for their first communion. The class gathers Saturday, March 24th at 10:00 a.m. in the Conference Room.
Parents of participating children are asked to come to this class. They will take part in their child’s first communion celebration on March 25th, Palm Sunday, at either our 8:30 a.m. or 10:00 a.m. worship service. Baptismal sponsors (Godparents) are invited to take part on Sunday.
PALMS NEEDED FOR PALM SUNDAY
We need palms for our Palm Sunday worship services next Sunday, March 25th. Please ask anyone you know with trees to trim them and bring the branches to the church by noon on Saturday, March 24th.
PALM SUNDAY PANCAKE BREAKFAST
The Confirmation Class and LIFT (high school age) youth of our congregation will be cooking a Pancake Breakfast and serving it from 9:15 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Come and enjoy breakfast as both a service to the congregation and a fundraiser for youth ministry.
Contact Doug Halvorsen at 626 532-0576 for more information or to take part.
CANDY-FILLED EASTER EGGS NEEDED
Help our children celebrate the sweetness of the empty tomb by donating soft-candy-filled plastic Easter Eggs for our Easter Egg hunts by noon on March 31st.
Please do not bring hard boiled eggs, as they attract scavengers, or chocolate eggs, as they tend to melt.
Pick up a handful of our Easter worship service invitations and put them in your pocket or purse. Leave them, post them, or best of all hand them out with an invitation to come and share our Easter celebrations on April 1st. This is one of the best times of the year to invite people to know God.
TRANSITION MEETING WITH SYNOD STAFF
Our congregational leaders met with Pastor Reg Schultz Akerson, Assistant to the Bishop for Rostered Leadership, last week to discuss plans for the transition to a new pastor after Pastor Berkedal’s retirement.
Pastor Reg stated that an Interim pastor would be assigned to serve at FLC while a long-term pastor is identified and called by the congregation. That process will likely take 12-18 months, thought it could be done faster if the congregation moves through the steps quickly. Reg gave the church council homework to do in preparation for his next visit in April. Speak with any of our church council members or Pastor Berkedal for further details.
RETIREMENT DINNER SAVE THE DATE
A committee has formed to plan a dinner to honor Pastor Berkedal and his family and plans are underway. Save the date, Saturday, June 2nd at 6:30 p.m. Watch for details, coming soon.
STRAW POLLS RESULTS
What has God called us to do, and who has been gifted to do what in our ministry together in 2018? A series of Straw Polls were received every Sunday in January at worship.
Straw polls are questionnaires that are used to gauge the sense of the congregation as to how God is calling us to minister.
Results have been posted and will be used by our church council in planning.

CHURCH CONSTRUCTION IN TAZANIA UPDATE
We are receiving a special offering to help our brothers and sisters in Christ of Dakawa, Tanzania in East Africa build a structure for worship, learning and missions.
When completed, it will be the only church serving the students at the only post-high school schools training all the teachers and skilled craftsman in the country, plus the surrounding area!
It is now nearly complete, but worship services for students and locals are being held, and the church is growing. Three weddings have already taken place!
We will soon be moving on to the construction of our seventh church.
Thank you for your generous support.
Please mark a white pew envelope “Tanzania” for this purpose, or mail your gift to the church.

Please give food to help the people who need our help in the name of Jesus Christ. Food that does not need cooking, small water bottles, canned food, staple food, easy-to-prepare food, diapers and personal hygiene items are much needed.

FORWARD IN FAITH 2018 APPEAL PLEDGES
We’ve had a great beginning to our Forward in Faith 2018 Stewardship Appeal. Ministry Moment talks have been given by Carol Beyer, with Candace Martinez, Chuck Parrish, and Hal Fredericksen coming.
Materials are available on the announcement tables and can be accessed below.
A pledge is not a contract. It is a statement of intent that can be revised up or down. What it does is help us be intentional about our giving.
Pray about it, and then return your completed pledge this coming Sunday. We will bring our pledges to the altar and tie them to a Christmas tree as a response to the great gift of God in Jesus Christ.
Click here for a copy of an explanatory letter, a Pledge Sheet, and an explanation of what it means.
Fill out your pledge sheet and mail it to FLC at 505 East Bonita Avenue, San Dimas, California 91773 or bring it with you to worship.
Thank you for your continued partnership in our common ministry, your generous response to God’s grace, and your shining example of what a Christian community looks like among the people it serves and to whom it witnesses.

STEWARDSHIP IN 2018
Are you rich towards God? Could you live on ten times your current giving?
First fruits (the first check you write after income), proportional (based on a percentage of that income) growth giving (leading to 10% (a tithe) and beyond) is the Biblical standard.
With the stocks at or near all-time highs, gifts of appreciated stock directly to FLC may have tax advantages. Consult with your financial advisor to see if this may be effective stewardship for you.
Live by faith each day for Jesus.
